Laboratory Assistant/ Phlebotomist - 40 Hours/Week, Evening Shift

Job Summary

Under direction of site management performs basic phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture and capillary collections; specialized procedures; EKGs; basic specimen processing and registration functions.

Utilizing standard venipuncture techniques, appropriate blood specimens are collected by adhering to correct collection and transport protocol including positive patient identification.
Perform basic blood collection procedures such as capillary collections, blood cultures, and glucose tolerance tests adhering to defined protocols.
Perform EKG testing according to defined protocol if indicated.
Perform non-blood specimen collections according to defined collection and transport protocols, including drug screen and breath alcohol collections.
Process patient specimens according to defined procedures.
Follow all laboratory safety procedures to minimize the risk to self and others; reports gaps and escalates as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Abilities: Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice.
Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors. Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
