Speech Language Pathologist - Inpatient Therapies, 40 Hours/Week

Job Summary

Works as a productive member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, and utilizes appropriate diagnostic and treatment techniques in order to provide direct care for patients of all ages with speech, language, cognitive and/or swallowing deficits in accordance with ASHA's generally accepted scope of practice. Provides education and support to patients and families regarding diagnosis and treatment. Reports the status of patients through appropriate documentation and verbal communication procedures. Maintains departmental equipment and assists in requesting new equipment.

1. Promotes Lakeland Regional Health System philosophy to ensure quality care and guest relations.
2. Evaluates the speech, language, cognitive and/or swallowing status as appropriate, as well as screens
the hearing of patients who are referred for Speech-Language Pathology services, and determines
an appropriate diagnosis.
3. Administers appropriate treatment to patients within the scope of practice of Speech-Language Pathology and departmental guidelines.
4. Maintains and completes accurate documentation of patient and departmental records.
5. Assures an appropriate continuum of patient care through effective communication procedures.
6. Maintains commitment to professional growth and competency.
7. Contributes to the efficient and productive operation of the assigned department.
8. Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service.

Requirements

Education:

Masters: Speech-Language Pathology (Required)

Certifications:

Speech Language Pathologist License - State of Michigan

Must possess analytical abilities and sound knowledge of the field of speech-language pathology necessary for the effective formulation of treatment plans, implementation of care and appropriate documentation regarding the patient's condition and response to treatment. Additionally, the clinician must be able to identify limitations in own clinical knowledge, and seek guidance as appropriate.
Abilities: Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice.
Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors. Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
