PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) - Senior Engineer (Bill of Material Management)


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capability within Whirlpool

  • Specific concentration on Bill of Material (BOM) views - engineering (eBom), manufacturing (mBom), service (sBom)

  • Provide design requirements and guide project teams for successful PLM implementations

  • Address complex implementation issues. Support and/or guide team through problem definition, issue identification and work plan development using systematic problem-solving principles

  • Lead cross-functional teams in process definition, process development, and/or process improvement planning and implementation

  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Identify and advocate the use of best practices

  • Cultivate and amplify thought leadership across the entire enterprise


Function Overview

The PLM Engineer will be responsible for defining business requirements and processes that align to the PLM roadmap.  This person will work directly with our cross-functional business partners and stakeholders to coordinate the proper workshops to gather all input.  The PLM engineer will own the creation of project plans using lean and organizational change management principles. He/she will be expected to be a subject matter expert and responsible for driving the project from concept to deployment, including any training and/or documentation that needs to be created and partner closely with the Whirlpool IT team during solution creation.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Lifecycle Management

  • Must have hands-on experience working with PLM tools


Preferred Requirements

  • Degree concentration -  Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science

  • Prefer PTC Windchill /PTC CREO  experience for PLM tools

  • Solid proven background in all phases of a Solution Delivery Methodology

  • A passion for process excellence and ability to lead functional requirements management

  • Experience interacting with cross-functional business partners

  • Working knowledge of six sigma process improvement practices

  • Experience with various type of parts, part classification, BOM's, associated CAD and engineering change management

  • Product configuration management

  • Familiar with Integration with System Engineering, Project Planning & ERP tools.

  • Support business readiness and organizational change management activities prior to go-live

  • Ability to work independently; lead small teams focused on specific work streams of larger projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proven writing skills for mass communication.

  • Ability to assess various business problems and derive scope in terms of implementation

    • To design scalable, reusable and robust products

    • To articulate solution ideas with absolute clarity, good communication and presentation skills

    • To redesign existing systems to improve operational/business efficiency

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment

  • Desire to mentor, coach, develop junior team members

  • Willingness to travel globally as required

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute projects including:

    • Scoping

    • Gathering requirements

    • Use of project charter

    • Creation of work breakdown structure and proper estimation of timing

    • Utilization of project plan

  • Creating and updating of processes, guidelines and standard operating procedures

  • Creation & deployment of various training to efficiently help teams acquire necessary knowledge

  • Experience in Organization Change Management (PROSCI preferred)

  • Six Sigma Certification preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
